Monsoon is a season where you escape from all the heat of summer. This is the mating season for a lot of animals this correctly says that this is the season where a lot of bacteria and viruses grow thus increasing the chances of catching infections and various other problems.
Thus you must take very good care of your health as you may catch an infection and also is may get some skin infections or allergies. So taking care of your holistic health is very important so that you can enjoy monsoon to the fullest.
Eating tips
Eating healthy can prevent you from any kind of illness. Eating healthy will help you gain all the nutrients that are important for maintaining good health and keep you away from infections.
Foods to consume in monsoon
• Consume foods rich in Vitamin C: this season is where you may catch air born and water-born; viral, bacterial and skin infections. So this is the time where you will require a good immunity to be safe from infection and be healthy. Vitamin C helps in fighting infections and will help you stay in your best health. Eat foods like sprouts, green leafy vegetables, plums, lemon and other foods rich in vitamin c.
• Immunity boosting foods: other then vitamin C various other things in your kitchen will help you maintain good immunity. So should include garlic, cloves, ginger, and turmeric in your daily cooking. Tulsi in your tea or just chew a few tulsi leave in the morning. Add turmeric in hot milk. All this helps in boosting your immunity.
• Consume foods that are dry like barley, millets, quinoa, onions, sprouts, whole pulses, corn, etc. Avoid foods like watermelon, lassi, rice, etc. As in this season, there is a lot of moister around in the atmosphere so all the foods dry in nature will help you maintain a good balance in your body’s system.
• Avoid roadside food: It is so common that you may end up eating roadside bhajiyas and vada pav during monsoons as it is very tempting and makes you feel good. But eating these roadside foods is one of the major causes of catching infections as you never know what kind of hygiene practices have the person who is preparing the food has practiced. So avoid food from the roadside so only consume foods prepared at home or other places where you are confident of the hygiene practices.
• Boiled water: water-borne infections are commonly caught in monsoon so try having only purified water, but it’s better to have only boiled water as it kills all the bacteria and keeps you away from infections.
Other tips to stay safe
• Maintain hygiene by keeping yourself and your surroundings clean.
• Avoid walking in places where there is a lot of water accumulated as this may lead to skin infections at your heels and foot.
• But If you cannot avoid walking in water then do wash your hands and feet as soon as possible after you reach a clean and dry place.
• Keep yourself dry so that you do not catch a cold and cough.
• Do not keep things open in because there may be a lot of mosquitoes that may sit on the food that can be how infections that will travel.
• Do not keep water open as this is the time for mosquitoes breeding and mosquito’s bread in places where there is open water.
